Stealing Ideas on The Internet

There are tons of great ideas out there on the Internet…do you really need to think-up a totally new one? Maybe yes, but maybe no…

I was just reading this stealing content ideas post, and was reminded of this Picasso quote:

Bad artists copy. Great artists steal. ~Pablo Picasso

John Reese also had some interesting idea-stealing advice in this video called “sell what’s already selling”.

I once talked with the CEO of a major Internet company who told me straight-up that he was not necessarily interested in creating unique Internet products, just copying and improving on other existing products. I was actually a little surprised.

What about you? Are you a Picasso?

Hm. Did you mean steal indeed? I’d like to call this “use ideas”. Because when you know about idea the options are to do something with this ( use it ) or leave it. You can’t take idea from the author.

@Tim: call it whatever you want I guess. “using”, “stealing”, “borrowing”, “inspiration”, etc.. :)

  3. [...] who is so manly he has extra man cards to sell on the black market, has a great quote on a recent post of his: Bad artists copy. Great artists steal. ~Pablo [...]
